Dating the Prince of Darkness has its challenges...

Leila's psychic abilities have been failing her, and now she isn't sure what the future holds. If that weren't enough, her lover, Vlad, has been acting distant. Though Leila is a mere mortal, she's also a modern woman who refuses to accept the cold shoulder treatment forever–especially from the darkly handsome vampire who still won't admit that he loves her.

Like choosing between eternal love and a loveless eternity...

Soon circumstances send Leila back to the carnival circuit, where tragedy strikes. And when she finds herself in the crosshairs of a killer who may be closer than she realizes, Leila must decide who to trust– the fiery vampire who arouses her passions like no other or the tortured knight who longs to be more than a friend? With danger stalking her every step of the way, all it takes is one wrong move to damn her for eternity.

I’ve had Twice Tempted for years sitting on my shelf – thanks to Christy for getting me a signed copy! – but I was holding off on reading it because I wanted to finish out The Night Huntress Series first and that was a BIG mistake. See, something that happened in the final Night Huntress book was a spoiler for Twice Tempted and I was SO MAD.

Anyway.

I was wanting to read a book with a familiar world and characters that I loved, just because. And what’s better than a Vlad book?

I want to talk about this world for a minute. Let us set aside the fact that it’s awesome, I love how there is SO much in this world to explore. I have adored every book focused around it and I just can’t get enough!

However, I can’t say that I am in love with this one. There are a lot of THINGS in Twice Tempted that were used in other books in the series so the novelty kind of wore off awhile ago. Not to mention, as much as I LOVE Leila, her insecurities with herself and her relationship with Vlad proved how NOT READY she is to be brought into this world entirely. I see some her points but at the same time, I am just… UGH GROW UP GIRL. That being said, I do love how she is still trying to harness her powers and learn more about them. She is strong in that aspect.

On to Vlad. He has been my favorite secondary character in the Night Huntress series and I am so happy he gets a series and not just one book. His character is very complex and the depth IS there. While I knew he always had a soft side, I almost feel like it was exploited in Twice Tempted. (No thanks to Leila). Where is the BAMF from the other books? GONE. Just, GONE.

I do love their chemistry, and while I don’t think Leila was ready for what happened in this installment and I wish Vlad wasn’t such a damn pushover, I do love them together. I am ready for their trials to be over so they can start the life they deserve. Let’s hope that Leila grows up a little in the mean time, hmm?

Ah, I wanted to finish Night huntress too before I began Night prince, I guess I’ll have to change that plan, thanks for the tip 😉

From what I see, it is best to read them in order of publication. That way, nothing will be spoiled. Like, if you read this then finished night huntress, you should be good. But don’t read the 3rd book (Bound by Flames) before finishing NIght Huntress. Make sense?

Vlad is a push over, huh? Too bad. I like a strong male.
This is one of those authors that I see the books all over, have been drawn to them for years, but have not read. My library has several Jeaniene Frost books in the digital library. I should go pick one.
