What was this? Better yet – WHY ALL THE FUCKING HYPE!?

*Sigh* Do I HAVE TO pinpoint what didn’t work? Or how much this book ticked me off? Can’t I just say, ” I DIDN’T LIKE IT!” and flounce away, with no other words spoken?

No? FINE.

This is one of those times when I purchase a book SOLELY on the hype. Not because it was written by Colleen Hoover – or better yet, TARRYN FISHER, but because everyone was freaking out about this book. I just HAD TO KNOW what it was all about.

I cannot, for the life of me, figure this out.

So in the middle of the school day these two teenagers – Charlie and Silas – lose their memories. Kind of. They can remember off the wall shit but not their family, friends or each other. Basically, anything to do with their own life. Yeah, it sounds awesome.

NO.

There was just too much going on; too many WHAT THE FUCKERY things that are not answered. I like what the fuckery, I do. But this was just !@#$!#$. I felt like I took a 400 page mystery novel and opened it up and read 140 in the middle.

It just didn’t make sense. NONE AT ALL. Like IDEAS where just thrown around and haphazardly placed randomly. Like they were thinking, “THIS SOUNDS GOOD, throw in there!” A “clue” is thrown at us and we aren’t given enough time to understand and/or process it before something ELSE is thrown at us. It didn’t work. I don’t even know enough about the characters to LIKE them. Thus, there goes any emotional attachment I could have had to the story. Here is what I walked away with –

I wish they would have stuck with one book that was originally planned because I will NOT buy the next one. I just DON’T CARE.

I bought this book because … well, Hoover. Now I’m afraid to read it. My mom read it first and she warned me that she still has no idea what happened. I do NOT think I would enjoy that. So now I’m trying to decide if I want to buy the second one and read them both, hoping I’ll get some answers, or if I just give up. Sigh.

You know what though? It seems like I am the only one that didn’t like it! LOL Sure, there are 3 stars floating around but not MANY less than that.

It wasn’t just that I didn’t know what was going on – the way everything was mashed together was terrible.

If you are still curious, I recommend waiting until the second book comes out.

LOL I couldn’t help but laugh while reading this. I don’t think I’d like it. I like what the fuckery type things (like hey, nocte!) But to not know what’s going on at ALL would bug me!!! And I read your spoiler and that made me laugh too haha. Ughh that’s too bad though, I thought this would be good!
