At News 9 San Diego, the hottest stories happen off camera.
Betrayed and abandoned by his wife and left to raise their young daughter on his own, TV news photographer Jake "Mac" MacDonald has moved to San Diego for a fresh start. He’s sworn off women forever and devoted his life to his little girl. But when his brother-in-law drags him out to a night club, Mac can’t help but be drawn to the cute blonde who asks him to dance. Maybe he can make an exception...for just one night.
A hot fling is exactly what news reporter Elizabeth White had in mind when she brought Mac home. A quick cure to help her get over her ex-boyfriend. But things get awkward when her anonymous hookup turns out to be her newest colleague. Now they must put their attraction behind them and find a way to work together. But when someone starts sabotaging Beth’s career, she realizes Mac is the only one she can trust. And maybe their one night has the makings of an exclusive after all

First thought after finishing
“Aw, so sweet!”
Are you looking for a fun, sweet romance that will make your heart swell? Look no further! Just This Night is IT.
I am not often one to read light, fun & fluffy romance. For me, THESE are my escape books when I am in funk mood or just want something light I am able to consume, without my emotions and mind stuck in a whirlwind. Just this Night is just what I was in the mood for – and I am so happy I got my greedy little hands on it.
Told in dual POV of Mac & Beth, this is a story of one night stand turned hot fling. Beth is reeling over the news about her ex – and needs a night to escape. Mac is new to town and is pushed out of the house by his brother-in-law for a night on the town. When these two meet at a night club? Instant chemistry.
As I mentioned, this is a light romance, so it’s low on angst and a quick read. However, that doesn’t mean lack of development for the characters OR lack of drama, because there was both. I adored both Mac and Beth, and I was rooting for them the whole time. Both had a level of insecurities and personal struggles to work on, and they all developed nicely throughout the novel.
There was also a little suspense on who was working to sabotage Beth’s career. I was taken aback by WHO it was, and why, simply because I didn’t see the obvious connection! I also loved the humor. There were several moments that I laughed out loud and read a few things to my husband, too!
My only small issues was with one of Mac’s decisions. I understood it – but I thought it was rather selfish of him to ask what he did of Beth, after the choices that HE made. And in the end, everything wrapped up rather quickly. Still, these small things didn’t hinder my overall enjoyment of the novel.
All in all – I adored Just this Night. It’s fun, light but full of heart, sexy times and swoons. I highly recommend it!
